Herl bodies
Winding peacock herl to make a bronze-green, fuzzy body.
Tie in two or three herls by their tips and wind them forward together in touching turns. For a tougher body, twist them round the thread first, as a rope.
Keep the flue (the fuzz) facing back as you wind, so it stands out.
Common mistakes
- Winding single strands: they break easily.
- Crushing the flue with the next turn.
